This year’s Walk-n-Wiffle was our best yet. Twenty-two Wiffle ball teams, more than 50 walkers and even a new event, a cornhole tournament, turned out more than 50 participants.
It was a warm Saturday on Sept. 14 at Chukchansi Park, but that didn’t keep the Wiffle ball players from taking over the field the Fresno Grizzlies call home. As honorary chair of Walk-n-Wiffle, retiring Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer kicked off the day’s events by throwing out the first pitch and cheering on all the participants.
The winning Wiffle ball teams were as follows:
Pro A Division
First place (tie): Rick's Vending & GSW
Third place: Sling It
Fourth place: McThunderstixx
Pro B Division
First place: Xpress
Second place: Chance Avenue
Intermediate Division
First place (tie): Chicken & Wiffles & Case of the Wiffles
Third place: Fresno Grizzlies B Team
Beginner Division
First place: Beertenders
Second place: Pigott Express
Winning teams for both the Wiffle ball and cornhole tournaments split $1350 in prize money thanks to our sponsors.
Our friends from Fresno Street Eats connected us with Taqueria Jaliscience, which kept particpants chowing down on their delicious tacos and more, and DJ Roeski’s music kept people moving.
UCPCC wants to thank all of our participants, sponsors and volunteers who helped make 2019’s Walk-n-Wiffle such a fantastic event. We are looking forward to next year being bigger and better!
